Busy … Busy … Blessed!

Filed under: Uncategorized — House on the Rock Family Ministries @ 3:32 pm

We just went through one of the busiest speaking weeks in a long long time.  The most emotionally challenging service was the funeral of a dear friend and pastor.  Preaching funeral services is not an easy task … one I hope I won’t have to do often.

After the funeral we were at a local church leading our new Dad’s University.  We had seven dads sitting around the table interacting with our material and one another.  It was a good start.

Then off to Pittsburgh for that Fan the Flame … was a great night.  And the cherry on top of this busy week was our Becoming a Man of IMPACT weekend with the men of Tri-State Fellowoship Church at Camp Joy El.  Those guys really captured the vision for building mentoring discipleship relationships!

Lots of blessings from all this busyness!  We have two weeks to re-load.

Fanning the Flames in Pittsburgh!

Filed under: HOTRFM, Marriage/Family, Ministry — House on the Rock Family Ministries @ 3:14 pm

We have over 40 people currently registered for our Fan the flame Date Nite in Ellwood City next week.  That is a 100% increase over our start up there last spring!  Thanks to Rob and Tracey for their hard work in planning and promoting.

Big Changes!

Filed under: Uncategorized — House on the Rock Family Ministries @ 10:34 pm

We had our first Fan the Flame Date Nite last Thursday.  According to many who attended (we had 81 folks there) this was ”the best one ever!”  Here is the link to highlights … and some pictures … we’ll have more pix soon.

On that same Thursday, just 3 hours before we began the date night I announced to my colleagues at the college that I’m no longer a “full time faculty member” at LBC.  So, I am officially out of the boat!  I’ve started full time at House on the Rock!  Now the faith and fun begins.  Please keep praying for me!

This week we are working to get out the largest mailing we have ever done.  We are sending out about 1200 flyers announcing our Building A Healthy Family Ministry Workshop in Downingtown

We mailed our fall news/prayer letter today announcing our change.  We are asking our 540 plus friends of the ministry who haven’t been donors yet to become one.  Pray for both of these crucial mailings … that they will produce the fruit we hope they will.

We have a special breakfast on Saturday at Church of the Open Door in York … One of our board members has been doing a great job of coaching this church in building their men’s ministry.  This Saturday we are going to help them cast their ministry’s vision by helping these men see their need for a men’s ministry and some small group involvement.

I have been working on a new talk that I have initially titled “Who’s on your pit crew?”  It plays off the need for NASCAR drivers to have a team of men behind them to help them finish the race they are in … we all need a group of men who are willing to “jump over the wall” and put air in our tires, fill our fuel tanks, clean our windshields and give us a “kick in the bumper” to get us back in the race … do you have a good pit crew surrounding you?

Blessings,

Bruce

Box, not without aim …

We’re off! into our busy fall schedule.  But we’re not running around clueless … we are in the midst of the vital process of strategic planning for our next one to three years.  We are thrilled as we forge the exciting possibilities within the vision of House on the Rock Family Ministries!

Our first Fan the Flame takes place this week.  Kapp and Linda have a great drama planned and Karen and I will be doing some tag-team teaching this season. We are having some fun getting ready for this year’s theme of “We go round in circles.”  We will be overviewing Emerson Eggerichs best seller Love and Respect.  We have about 35 couples pre-registered … that’s a great start!
