This week I've been down the shore (OCNJ) with Karen. Amanda has been visiting her father and family in Ohio, and Kapp has been dutifully manning the fort.
Trust you all celebrated your father's on Sunday.
Plans are being made for our first Family Ministry Conference in March 2007. We have an exciting keynoter on the horizon … won't share the name until we get the details worked out.
Also we are meeting with the Director of External Programs of Family Research and Counseling Center to talk about how we can be working together to help marriges and families in Central PA. Pray for this meeting and what may come from it!
Schedule some "vacation" time to spend with your family … vacations are a great time to reconnect and re-create! You don't need to go far away … just spend some time together … even inthe backyard.
Blessings, Bruce

MAY HIGHLIGHTS — BAHFM, FATHER/SONS and FAMILY R We!
Let’s start with some highlights from our spring schedule.
We held our second Building a Healthy Family Ministry (BAHFM) Seminar at Lancaster Bible College. 30 churches were represented — from as far as Michigan! This all day workshop was designed to inspire and instruct participants to build family ministries in their local congregations!
That weekend we led a Father/Son Retreat at Camp Orchard Hill in Dallas,PA. It was a new challenge for us … and we patterned it on our "FAMILY R We" retreat. That means we set up an interactive activity for dads to do with their sons. For example, we urged dads to take their sons on a walk in the woods and share with them how they came to Christ. The feedback was very positive.
The next weekend we traveled to Rhodes Grove in Chambersburg,PA to lead our “FAMILY R We” retreat to over 300 family members! That size crowd stretched our abilities! We’ve never had a retreat that big. Kapp and Linda had over 150 kids to lead while Bruce spoke to their parents. All went extremely well and everyone seemed to be blessed by the intergenerational sharing.
PITTSBURGH FAN THE FLAME LAUNCH …
On June 1st we traveled to New Castle, PA to launch our Pittsburgh area Fan the Flame (FTF) Date Nites. We had 12 couples there who will form the leadership team. This was a sample evening to show these folks what a FTF looks and feels like. Our next one is in September … pray that these folks will generate enough interest and support to make this ministry a reality.
